About Us
Wapiti Micro Systems has been around since 1982 developing software for
the traffic controller industry. At that time, traffic control software
was new and there were several programs that could each do certain functions.
But Mike Daeges decided that he could write one program that could do everything!
He named this software W4IKS. The "IKS" meaning Includes the Kitchen
Sink. Since then, the Wapiti controller software has dominated the 170 controller
market as the operating software of choice. The 170 controller has now advanced
to the HC11, 2070, and PC104 giving Wapiti firmware more memory to do even
more!
Wapiti Micro Systems is now operating out of Willoughby, Ohio and is
run by Robert Durgin who has over 35 years experience in traffic and Kevin
Durgin who has over 12 years experience. Tom Miller is our applications
engineer and is probably the most knowledgeable person, next to Mike Daeges,
when it comes to Wapiti software. Andy Zhang is a traffic engineer and
our software programmer. Andy has his PHD in Traffic Engineering and has
over 10 years experience in the traffic industry. The latest addition
to the Wapiti team is Andrea Orozco. Andrea is an engineer and software
programmer. Together Andy and Andrea will be doing all of the upgrades
and modifications to the Wapiti software line. Although Mike Daeges has
"retired", he is still working with us on a consulting basis.
